The Caristia are the only day in the month of February that has no calendrical emphasis – not nefasti, not tempus religiosum, not placandus Manibus or dies parentales, and not a feriae or festival. Following the Parentalia, this day became known as the cara cognatio and was celebrated as a family day of thanksgiving.
